1. In most of the Biosphere Reserve area the soil is red loam . 2. The soil consists of red loam , with a subsoil of rock and clay. 3. The soil types preferred by this section also include red loam and grey sand. 4. Our red loam soils and Mediterranean climate is conducive to ideal growing conditions for most crops. 5. The major portion is covered by red loam , and then comes red sand and black loam. 6. Punjai Puliampatti is having three different types of soils viz . black loam, red loam and red sand. 7. In Breinton, one reason for that is the high quality of the deep red loam soils for agriculture and horticulture. 8. The percentages of the Red loam , Red sand and Black loams are 70 %, 10 % and 20 % respectively. 9. The plant will grown in red loam , sand or gravel soils and is often found on the plains or rocky hills. 10. (a ) Red Loam Soil : These soils have been formed by the decomposition of granite, gneiss charnocite and diorite rocks.
